Doctoral Journal
I recently stumbled upon a book written by one of the prominent women on the face of this earth and I thought to myself, “what have you been doing with your life?”. With respect to that, I have made up my mind to document my journey through graduate school as a doctoral student.
I started my graduate school in the year following the COVID-19 pandemic, 2021. The journey had started in 2020 with a lot of ups and downs, hills and valleys, and whatever else you can think of. Mine was not a matter of looking for greener pastures, or “japa” as it is commonly called in my country. I wanted to get a PhD and I was not going to stay in the same country to do that. It is my belief that, the more exposure you get, the better your career would be. So, in light of this, I started drafting out countries where I could go to.
The United States of America seems like a dream country to a lot of people, however it was not even on my list. I had Russia, Germany, Switzerland, Finland to name a few. There was just one goal and that was to get my highest academic qualification from a country other than where I have my nationality.
This is going to be a series of writing because I intend to give an update on a weekly basis (hopefully, fingers crossed), until I graduate from my doctoral program. So, if you are reading this at this time, welcome to a weekly update on my journey to getting my PhD in Pharmaceutical sciences.
My program should take between four to five years, ceteris paribus. I am studying at “The Big Apple” with so little stipend (lol). Its an irony, but I am living just fine.
A little back story before I get into the story. I actually wanted to study abroad for a Master’s degree, but then I was told of the possibility of getting a PhD directly from Bachelor’s and I was like “why not?”. So, that’s how we got here’
I really hope to have this whole thing published as a book to be launched on my graduation (grin). Yes, I really look forward to that.
I will stop here for today. So, till next week, keep reigning in life!
